Weekly Update - 03/11/2020

Friends,

I’m writing to let you know that the church is cancelling all activities and meetings for the remainder of March and possibly longer. This comes in response to an order by the King County Local Health Officer who, in keeping with Gov. Inslee prohibited public gatherings of 250 or more, but also went beyond the Governor’s scope by prohibiting all public gatherings under 250 unless certain provisions are met. We are not able to guarantee compliance with two of the provisions, therefore we must cancel all activities during March, and possibly beyond since the Local Health Officer’s notice is effective immediately for an indefinite period of time.

Church staff will be working from home—they will be monitoring email through which they are still available. You may leave a message on the church number as well—we will be checking this on a daily basis.

We have posted this information on the church website and will keep that up to date based on what directives come from the Local Health Officer. We will do our best to communicate in a timely and clear manner—forgive us for when we don’t live up to that hope.

We remain in service to you, and trust this suspension of activity will be of a short duration. I’m inviting you to consider that though we are not meeting, we still have obligations with local and global mission partners, staff, and those in need. Your continued commitment to the ongoing ministry of our faith community enables us to keep promises and keep mission going forward. If you normally give during the service, you might consider mailing in your gift, or, you can contribute electronically through our webpage—there are other options listed for your convenience there as well.

Please be in prayer for our community, our church family, those directly affected by COVID-19, and at risk populations. We pray for God’s grace and Spirit to lead our response as good neighbors in our community. And we pray for those on the front line of this emerging crisis—first responders, health care professionals, public health officials, and government leaders all of whom incur different levels of risk in dealing with this situation and all of whom have to make crucial and difficult decisions amid a developing crisis. We do not live in fear, but in hope and are guided by God’s Spirit who directs us toward that which invites life to flourish. We are sustained in God’s great love and still look for ways to serve and bless as we can. Thanks for being faithful and brilliantly displaying Christ’s life. Spread the word about this among those you know in our community, and let us know how we can help you navigate through this in the days and weeks ahead.

Warmly,
--frank
