Weekly Update - 04/03/2020

Friends,

Holy Week begins this Sunday—Palm Sunday—on which we remember how Jesus entered Jerusalem at the beginning of the week that would end with his crucifixion and burial in a borrowed tomb. We will gather our thoughts around this event during our time together in livestream worship this Sunday. As we’ve mentioned before, you can access this service through our webpage. A link will take you to the church’s Facebook page on which we’ll stream the service. Remember, you do not need to have a Facebook account to view the service. This is now probably the easiest way to invite others to participate in worship—just send them the link, and then invite conversation about it later on. What’s not to like about this?

By the way, we will be sharing in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper this Sunday. YOU will be the servers! Make sure you have bread available—any kind of bread will do—and have some grape juice or wine (your choice) in cups for those who will be with you in that moment. Designate someone in your group or household to be the server, and I will guide the time of service. We’ll take the elements together at the same time. This is an example of how we remain connected though physically apart. We’ll remind you about having the elements present as our service begins so that you’ll be ready.

Though the way we’re reaching out has changed, the ministry of Christ continues. Our Children’s Ministry continues as Andrea reaches out to families. We’ve always recognized how important the family is to Children’s Ministry. The same is true in our Youth Ministry. Kim is meeting with students via Zoom a  number of times through the week. Sisterhood Study groups are meeting remotely, and a new group for men of all ages begins next Thursday evening at 7PM via Zoom with Andy Koss. Remember to check the church webpage for opportunities to connect. We miss being together and rubbing shoulders, but, connecting in whatever ways are open to us remains a key value in our faith family. A long ago phone company ad used the tagline—Reach out and touch someone. Now more than ever it’s vital to reach out and (virtually) touch someone—let them know you’re thinking of them, praying for them, and offer whatever assistance you’re able to give.

In the meantime, we’ll get ready to be with you Sunday through your device as we livestream worship—10AM!

Blessings,
—frank
