Weekly Update - 08/28/2020

Dear Friends,

I hope you’ve had a chance to read the update on our website from the APNC! They have nominated Andrea Chaumont as the candidate for Associate Pastor at LFPPC! For some time now the APNC has faithfully met on a weekly basis working through the process of creating a profile of the position for Associate Pastor of Family Ministry. As part of this process, they developed an understanding of the characteristics desired for the pastor in this position along with an appropriate skill set. They matched this with a profile of our congregation, and having prayerfully considered the possibilities, they joyfully determined that Andrea was a perfect fit for this position and they whole-heartedly recommend her to the congregation.

Andrea began her work with us as the Director of Ministry to Children and their Families. She came to us well-prepared for this work in both education and experience. In addition, she is certified, ready to receive a call as pastor by the Sacramento Presbytery of the PC(USA) where she has been under care. This means that she has met all the requirements for ordination to ministry for service as a pastor in the PC(USA). The Committee on Ministry of our presbytery has examined her and recommends her for ordination pending the call of our congregation for her to serve in this capacity.
The APNC is preparing materials to distribute profiling her, giving her qualifications, background, and readiness for the call. These will be available shortly. On September 13, Andrea will be formally presented to the congregation as the nominee for Associate Pastor. She will preach on that Sunday, and following the service, we will hold a congregational meeting via Zoom to vote on her call as Associate Pastor of Family Ministry. This is an exciting time for us as we anticipate what God will do among us through her continued ministry at this level. Please be in prayer for Andrea as she prepares, and for our congregation as we discern the Spirit’s leading for her call.

I’m looking forward to our time together on Sunday as we finish up our series on the spiritual formation of Jesus. We’ll explore how his formation is transferable to our lives as his followers. Blessings as many of you begin to juggle the demands of virtual education for your children as they return to school online. It is a challenging time, but God is faithful who provides all that you need for every moment you face.

Warmly,
—frank
