Meet Our Team

Leadership

Jesus Christ is the leader of Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church. We strive to listen for His guidance in our individual and shared lives. We invite everyone to find their own way of hearing Jesus and trust various groups among us to understand how He directs our community.

Pastors and Directors are staff members dedicated to helping our church community grow in their faith and follow Jesus. Their work involves prayer, teaching, and guiding members to experience Christ’s presence each day. They support groups, families, and individuals in learning how to respond to God’s abundant love.

Our congregation belongs to the PC (USA), the largest Presbyterian denomination in the United States. Presbyterian beliefs are based in Reformed Theology tracing their roots to the Protestant Reformation.

    Rev. Jeff Gephart

    Lead Pastor

I grew up in Kirkland on the shores of Lake Washington. A proud Husky, and also a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary and Seattle University with a doctorate in Educational Leadership. My passion is helping people understand how they are wired and connect to God’s call on their life. What excites me most about LFPPC is the opportunity we have to be a beacon and hope in this community. My wife Kristen and I love taking walks with our black Labrador, Macallan, and also listening to jazz (often a lot of bossanova) and musing about life, leadership and personality styles! Kristen is an amazing educational leader and has great insights that I glean every week. Our son Alex currently works at Disney World and is finishing a degree, and our son TJ is finishing up at Washington State University.

    Kim Herbert

Director of Youth & Family Ministries

I grew up in Michigan and moved to Seattle in 2012 to get my MDiv from Fuller Seminary. I’ve practiced Kids, Youth, and Family Ministry for more than 12 years and I’m passionate about helping kids, youth, and adults find community and explore who God created them to be. I love that LFPPC has a heart for service and is committed to coming alongside young people and families and continually find new ways to bring them into community. My wife Gabi and I used to love hiking, camping, and going to Sounders games; now we have a toddler, Kelly, and we love family walks in the neighborhood, playing in the backyard, and every minute after Kelly’s bedtime.

    Director of Music & Worship

Raised in Southern California, I have music degrees from Seattle Pacific and Belmont University. I have played piano for multiple church and collegiate ensembles, as well as sung in the Seattle Opera Chorus and The Five O’Clock Shadows, a barbershop quartet of SPU alumni. When not occupied with raising our two children, I also enjoy composing, trying new instruments, and disc golfing.

  • Jamie Henning

    Office Administrator

I’m a renaissance woman who has lived in too many places to name here. I have been in Seattle since 1997 though and consider this my true home. I have degrees in Humanities, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Interior Décor and Design, Culinary and Bakery/Pastry Arts. I am passionate about leading an authentic, open life as a follower of Jesus and continuing to learn and grow everyday. My two “fur babies” bring me tons of joy and help me to get out and enjoy the wonderful northwest. I also really enjoy reading books (especial sci-fi and fantasy), growing things in my yard, and exploring new places. I have been a member of LFPPC for more than 20 years and have raised both of my daughters as a part of this community. My husband Scott has been a member of LFPPC since he was 3 years old and has lived and worked as a Math Teacher in this community all of his life. We have really found it exciting and growth full to be a part of this extended family as we all learn to be more like Christ.

  • Melissa Robertson

    Melissa Robertson

    Director of Pepitas Preschool

The Pacific Northwest is one of my favorite places in the world. Born and raised here, I went to Shorecrest, then to Gonzaga for undergrad and then to The College of New Jersey for graduate school. I love learning and have a passion for early childhood education. My partner Joey and I love to travel and see the world - we're curious about cooking and religious traditions, the rhythm of a community off the beaten path and in a big city, and we love to listen to other languages. We have lived and worked in education all over the world, including Nepal and Spain. As a bilingual educator, I'm really interested in how language impacts the way people interact together. I love building community connections, reading, gardening, hiking, playing pickleball and hanging out with my two very creative and active boys.

Elders/Trustees & Deacons

The Session consists of Elders/Trustees selected by the community to ensure we stay true to our mission as followers of Jesus. They focus on encouraging spiritual growth and regularly evaluate our ministry approach, vision for loving God and others, ability to respond to God's call, and how to live consistently as followers of Jesus.

Deacons are another group selected by the faith community to be engaged in meeting a wide variety of physical needs and providing a range of assistance services within the faith community and the community beyond our campus. They also model what it means to serve as Jesus and his early followers did while in their communities.

Ministry Support Teams are groups that guide the church's ministries. They consist of church members who help plan and implement activities for areas like children’s ministry, youth ministry, neighborhood outreach, global outreach, and small groups. These teams meet monthly or less frequently and work under the oversight of the Session to fulfill the ministry goals for the church.
